Your Role:

Ensure patients are financially cleared for all appointments. Responsibilities include eligibility verification, obtaining pre-certifications and authorizations, correcting registration errors, and performing additional duties as necessary. Maintain effective communication with clinical partners to ensure seamless interactions between clinical, ancillary, and patient access departments. Actively engage in providing exceptional service to both internal and external customers while fostering respectful relationships.

Your Contributions to the Team:

+ Proactively contact insurance providers to verify eligibility and benefits, ensuring coverage is determined within the required timeframe.

+ Meet departmental standards for obtaining pre-authorizations from third-party payers, accurately documenting authorization details in the system.

+ Collaborate closely with clinical partners and physician offices to resolve pre-authorization issues, following up diligently on any missing or incomplete authorizations.

+ Utilize problem-solving skills to verify patient identity and minimize duplication of medical records.

+ Ensure patient accounts are assigned to the correct payer plans and that all financial assessments are thorough and up-to-date.

+ Document all interactions with patients and insurance representatives, including payer decisions and payment arrangements.

+ Coordinate with case management staff as needed.

+ Adhere to HIPAA regulations, verifying caller authorization levels before disclosing account information.

+ Create accurate financial estimates to enhance upfront cash collections.

+ Calculate patient co-pays, deductibles, and co-insurance, providing personalized financial responsibility estimates prior to service.

Required Knowledge and Skills:

Ability to handle confidential personnel and patient-related issues with discretion. Adaptability to the dynamic needs of the healthcare environment. Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and capable of multitasking while prioritizing departmental needs. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.

Preferred Knowledge and Skills:

Bilingual (English required, Spanish preferred) in both written and verbal communication. Familiarity with Electronic Health Records (EHR) and experience in obtaining insurance authorizations. Understanding of medical terminology.

Qualifications:

Education and Experience Required:

Minimum of one year of experience in Patient Financial Services, Patient Access, Customer Service, or a related field.

Preferred Education and Experience:

Associate degree or higher-level education, or completed coursework. Two years of experience in oncology-related business operations, including specialty pharmacy, insurance verification, and authorization submission.
