Job Role and Responsibilities


Under the direct supervision of the Staff Services Manager I (SSMI), the Student Assistant will acquire a range of administrative duties, general office procedures, time-management skills, prioritizing work, and will collaborate with management and colleagues to support office needs using the Electronic Adjudication Management System (EAMS).


This position may be used to fill future vacancies in accordance with 2 CCR §249.3.


Work Environment


The Student Assistant works in a climate-controlled office building with natural and artificial lighting as well as temperature control. In addition, the Student Assistant works in a cubicle in close proximity to others. The position requires working extensively on computers, scanners, shredders, and/or copiers as necessary for processing work, drafting email communication, and other purposes.

The Student Assistant is eligible to participate in the CalPERS retirement plan, which provides a defined benefit based on years of service, age, and final compensation. Additionally, the position offers access to 401(k) and 457(b) plans, allowing for pre-tax and after-tax contributions to enhance retirement benefits.

Additional Benefits


The Student Assistant may be eligible for cash in lieu of health and/or dental benefits if they have other qualifying medical and/or dental coverage through a spouse, domestic partner, parent, or other source.


The position also offers common carrier travel and accident insurance for excluded employees only, as well as a commute program that subsidizes commuting expenses for eligible employees who commute to and from work using public transportation, vanpools, or bicycles.
