Overview

The main responsibility of this role is to lead and enhance the national sales team along with the policies governing all services offered by the company (excluding finished goods). Achieving results through innovative and effective leadership of the sales strategy is crucial. This position will focus on training, professional growth, coaching, and oversight of all sales personnel. Building strong relationships with each division's general manager and the branch managers at various locations will be vital for establishing and achieving sales objectives within each region.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and execute new sales processes and policies for the organization, including defining roles for sales staff, transitioning them into their new positions, and developing a compensation framework that drives higher profitability.
  • Oversee daily operations of the national sales team to ensure adherence to established sales processes and achievement of set goals.
  • Collaborate with divisions to formulate annual sales budgets for services, considering operational limitations and approved pricing.
  • Establish quarterly and annual sales targets in alignment with division requirements by service type and production objectives.
  • Set measurable goals and metrics for the sales team, motivating them to reach these targets.
  • Collect and analyze market intelligence on competitors’ products, pricing, and activities, reporting findings to the Pricing Committee.
  • Monitor customer interactions, anticipate needs, and enhance customer satisfaction.
  • Possess extensive knowledge of the company's service offerings and pricing across the nation.
  • Collaborate with the National Accounts Center to address national customer care requirements.
  • Identify service areas beyond the company’s direct service region to ensure adequate service coverage for accounts.
  • Provide insights on customer requests and needs to maintain competitiveness.
  • Directly manage key accounts as necessary.
  • Work in partnership with management and Corporate Procurement to explore new markets, products, equipment, and services.
  • Coordinate with the Marketing/Public Relations team to ensure consistent branding materials that meet the sales team's requirements.
  • Deliver timely and effective solutions that align with client needs.
  • Conduct market research to uncover new potential customers and market opportunities.
  • Negotiate and finalize agreements with customers for transition to account managers at local, divisional, and national levels.
  • Engage with others in a professional and ethical manner.
  • Adhere to departmental and company protocols.
  • Maintain regular attendance and punctuality, which are essential for the smooth operation of the business.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to ensure efficient business operations, with responsibilities evolving as business needs change.
Qualifications
  • Demonstrated experience as a manager, director, or VP of sales, leading a team of at least 10 direct reports.
  • Proven track record of managing a high-performing sales team.
  • Familiarity with CRM software and the Microsoft Office suite.
  • Ability to comprehend and analyze sales performance metrics.
  • Strong customer service orientation with excellent negotiation skills.
  • Capability to read, analyze, and collaborate with legal on agreements and negotiations.
  • Exceptional communication and management skills.
  • Analytical mindset with a problem-solving approach.
  • Willingness to travel up to 40% of the time.
  • Bachelor's Degree in sales, business administration, or a related field; MBA preferred.
Physical Demands/Requirements

Constantly (over 2/3):
  • Utilizes computer and other office productivity equipment such as calculators, copiers, and printers.
  • Remains in a stationary position for 50% or more of the time.
  • Reviews documents, organizes data, and verifies information accuracy.
  • Communicates with customers and colleagues, exchanging accurate information in person, over the phone, and via electronic means.
Frequently (1/3-2/3):
  • Moves throughout the office to access files and office equipment.
Occasionally (under 1/3):
  • Handles materials or documents weighing up to 25 lbs.
  • Travels to customer locations and navigates through customer facilities.
