Job Responsibilities

This position is responsible for ensuring that the Health Services Unit (HSU) operates in compliance with Federal and State regulatory standards by delivering comprehensive administrative, programmatic, and project management assistance. The role requires applying knowledge of VADOC programs, policies, and procedures, along with professional judgment to carry out a range of administrative tasks.

Key Duties Include:

  • Coordinating meetings with HSU leadership and addressing requests and inquiries from various stakeholders.
  • Maintaining multiple databases with current information and ensuring adherence to compliance standards in managing peer reviews, mortality reviews, and medical clemency requests.
  • Being adaptable to take on additional responsibilities or work in different locations as needed to support the clinical and administrative functions of the Department.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Proficient in composing correspondence with strong grammar skills.
  • Working knowledge of HIPAA and other relevant State and Federal confidentiality regulations.
  • Ability to effectively interact with public officials and executives from both public and private sectors.
  • Capable of thriving in a fast-paced, high-stress environment with frequent interruptions.
  • Skilled in interpreting and applying policies, procedures, and guidelines.
  • Adept at analyzing issues and providing sound recommendations.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience in composing and editing various documents, including reports, proposals, and presentations.
  • Proficient in utilizing office technology and software.
  • Familiarity with Adobe Pro, Google Suite, and Microsoft Office Suite.

Additional Considerations

  • Experience in a correctional environment.
  • Background in a healthcare organization.
  • Preferred experience with Nursys Licensing database and National Practitioner's Data Bank.
  • Preferred experience with VACORIS.
