About The Role:

In the capacity of Lead Engineer, you will provide strategic leadership and advanced engineering expertise on intricate electric transmission design projects for high-voltage (HV) and extra high-voltage (EHV) overhead utility systems.

Your primary responsibilities will include ensuring that the team meets client expectations in terms of quality and project timelines, while also fostering an environment where team engagement and input are prioritized. Our goal is to motivate our team members to achieve the high standards for which Pickett is recognized.

This position will require hands-on management, including the preparation, review, and guidance on various aspects such as line routing, survey coordination, PLS-CADD modeling, structure and foundation design, clearance assessments, plan/profile development, material specifications and procurement, constructability evaluations, work order package preparation, permitting, vendor/subcontractor coordination, and construction support.

What You Will Be Doing:
  • Overseeing a team of engineers, technicians, and drafters
  • Clearly communicating expectations, objectives, and vision
  • Managing team performance and delegating project tasks
  • Inspiring, coaching, and mentoring team members
  • Managing projects to ensure quality and timely delivery
  • Reviewing and approving engineering design submissions
  • Building enduring relationships with clients
  • Estimating project costs and developing proposals
What You Bring:
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (required)
  • Professional Engineer (PE) certification (required)
  • Over 10 years of relevant transmission line engineering experience in the electric utility sector (required)
  • Extensive proficiency in PLS-CADD (required)
  • In-depth knowledge of design codes and standards such as NESC, IEEE, ASCE, and ACI
  • Significant experience collaborating with substation, environmental, real estate, construction, and maintenance stakeholders
  • Comprehensive understanding of industry standards and methodologies (engineering, procurement, and construction)
  • Strong project management capabilities and experience
  • Commitment to safety and adherence to safety regulations
  • Self-motivated individual who excels in a dynamic, varied, and deadline-oriented work environment
  • Exceptional leadership abilities and capacity to guide team members and direct project initiatives
  • Strong collaborative skills with team members and peers in the electrical utility sector
  • Effective business and technical communication skills (verbal, written, and presentation)
