As a Senior Engineer in Protection & Control, you will have the chance to design substation protection and control systems for electric utilities operating at voltages ranging from 12kV to 500kV.

This field is both exciting and rapidly evolving within the power systems sector, providing exposure to the integration of renewable energy sources into the electric grid.

Successful candidates will leverage their expertise in digital logic design, as well as AC and DC circuits, to develop electrical projects for substations.

The Responsibilities:

  • Designing Relay One Line and Three Line AC Schematics
  • Creating DC Protection Schematics
  • Developing Panel Layouts and Wiring Designs
  • Generating Bill of Materials Based on Design Specifications
  • Conducting Quality Control Checks on Wiring Designs
  • Providing Comprehensive Project Lifecycle Support from Initial Scoping to Final Design and Implementation
  • Offering Construction Support
  • Applying National Electrical Safety Code Standards to Design Processes
  • Adhering to Client Standards for Implementation
  • Collaborating with Designers/Drafters to Produce Required Project Drawings

Successful candidates will adhere to quality control and safety practices while ensuring compliance with project scope, timelines, and budgets.

This position is part of a design team composed of engineers, designers, and CAD technicians, working together to implement client standards effectively.

What Distinguishes You:

A Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field, coupled with four (4) or more years of experience in substation protection control design and/or field testing/commissioning.

Proven experience in executing substation protection and control projects.

Exceptional communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with internal teams and clients to fulfill project requirements.

Capability to interpret and create substation protection and control diagrams, including one-line, three-line, AC/DC schematic drawings, and wiring designs.

Ability to perform under pressure and meet deadlines.

A collaborative leader who thrives in a team-oriented environment.

A self-motivated individual who can work independently with minimal supervision.

Strong analytical abilities and a proven track record of problem-solving in both team and independent settings.

A high level of computer proficiency.

Willingness to travel to project and/or client locations as necessary.

You May Also Have:

  • U.S. Citizenship and the ability to pass a DOE Background Check
  • Engineer Intern (EI or EIT) certification
  • Professional Engineer (PE) License
  • Experience conducting quality control checks on smaller substation protection and control design projects
  • Familiarity with CAD tools
  • A Master's degree in a related field
  • Field testing/commissioning experience
