Transmission Line Project Engineer

GAI Consultants is on the lookout for a skilled Transmission Line Project Engineer to enhance our Power Delivery division. The ideal candidate will possess substantial experience in transmission line engineering, along with strong analytical, organizational, and collaborative skills. A minimum of one year of relevant experience and familiarity with PLS-CADD is required for remote work eligibility. Those lacking PLS-CADD knowledge will need to work on-site or adopt a hybrid schedule at any GAI office. A sign-on bonus is available for candidates applying directly without external recruitment agency involvement.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the technical aspects and ensure the successful execution of transmission line projects while adhering to defined scope, timelines, budget, and quality standards.
- Conduct daily project tasks, which may include:
- Creating Specification Packages
- Developing Structural and Fabrication Drawings
- Designing and Analyzing Transmission Lines utilizing PLS-CADD, PLS-POLE, and PLS-Tower
- Assessing foundations and existing structures against relevant codes and standards
- Performing Electrical Clearance checks and calculations
- Coordinating permits for Railroads, Roadways, and Environmental Crossings
- Apply engineering principles to facilitate the design of Power Delivery Projects.
- Exhibit meticulous attention to detail and strong communication skills.
- Manage projects without limitations on the number or value of projects handled.
- Oversee the development of project scope, timelines, and budgets.
- Assist in quality assurance and control for ongoing projects, providing peer reviews and mentoring for engineers and designers.
- Bachelor's degree in engineering from an ABET accredited institution is mandatory, preferably in Civil, Mechanical, or Electrical engineering.
- In-depth knowledge of transmission line design principles.
- A minimum of 12 years of experience in transmission line design is required.
- Proficiency in the PLS suite (PLS-CADD and PLS-POLE) is essential.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license is mandatory.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, AutoCAD, Microstation, and PLS Suite.
- Strong verbal and written communication abilities.
- Ability to analyze and interpret technical documents and regulations.
- Mathematical skills commensurate with engineering disciplines.
This is a full-time, exempt position with a standard 40-hour work week. The role may require occasional travel to client and GAI office locations, estimated at up to 10%.
