Position Overview:

GoldenWolf is in search of a proficient Senior Mechanical Systems Engineer to provide full-time, on-site support as part of the Defense Health Agency Headquarters Engineering Operations team in San Antonio, TX. This position entails the development and execution of intricate infrastructure repair and modernization initiatives while ensuring adherence to all applicable codes and standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and implement large-scale infrastructure repair and modernization projects, including drafting performance work statements (PWS), formulating estimates, and serving as a technical advisor in source selection boards.
  • Facilitate project execution and kick-off meetings, act as Technical Representative, and conduct Quality Assurance and Safety compliance inspections.
  • Perform functional testing and commissioning for government acceptance of systems through detailed verification of design, installation, functionality, and performance.
  • Offer expert engineering guidance on compliance and quality management for major building physical plant systems, encompassing HVAC, water distribution, plumbing, medical gas, security and communications, building automation, and fire suppression systems.
  • Support DHA Enterprise Water Treatment Management programs by collecting and validating program performance data and metrics for reporting.
  • Assist Military Treatment Facilities (MTFs) in enhancing energy performance and water treatment efficiency.
  • Mentor junior engineers, providing technical reviews and supervision to ensure their growth in fieldwork and adherence to engineering procedures and DHA policies.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in applied mechanical engineering.
  • Professional Engineering (PE) registration in mechanical engineering is mandatory.
  • A minimum of 5 years of documented qualifying practical experience in the healthcare sector, with at least 5 years of design and consulting experience. Practical experience should involve direct responsibility for the operation, maintenance, repair, and management of large mechanical infrastructure systems supporting significant institutional, industrial, or medical healthcare campuses. This experience must be recent, spanning continuously over the preceding three years.
  • US Citizen with National Agency Check with Inquiries (NACI) Clearance or the ability to obtain said clearance.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Expert-level skills and extensive practical experience in the mechanical trade discipline for accurately analyzing plans, data, designs, operations, and maintenance practices.
  • Ability to formulate estimates and provide recommendations for repairs, sustainment, and optimization of building physical plant and infrastructure systems.
  • Strong knowledge of local, municipal, and federal building codes, criteria, and standards.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communicative, diplomatic, and analytical skills for delivering high-quality presentations to executive leadership and large audiences.
