Job Overview

Daily Responsibilities:

The Manager of Technical and Lease Accounting will oversee the lease accounting operations of the organization while also supporting the technical accounting team in analyzing the accounting implications of various transactions, including but not limited to debt instruments, securitizations, derivatives, and contracts with customers and suppliers.

The compensation range for this position typically falls between $107K - $120K+, depending on experience.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lease Accounting
    • Oversee the lease accounting closing and reporting processes, ensuring adherence to U.S. GAAP, internal controls, and company policies for accurate and timely financial reporting.
    • Manage lease accounting operations, including the review of legal documents, classification assessments, and measurement/remeasurement activities.
    • Supervise and mentor staff, fostering their professional growth.
    • Examine journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, roll forwards, variance analyses, and disclosures to guarantee precise and timely financial transaction processing and reporting.
    • Investigate and analyze inquiries, providing guidance to team members in resolving issues.
  • Technical Accounting:
    • Collaborate with internal stakeholders on transactions to ensure appropriate accounting and reporting treatment.
    • Advise management on new accounting and regulatory standards (e.g., SEC, FASB).
    • Assist in reviewing the organization’s external financial reporting documents, including Forms 10-Q, 10-K, S-1, 8-K, and related materials.
    • Conduct research on technical accounting and reporting issues, drafting accounting memoranda and research papers.
    • Communicate policy and technical matters across the organization, including to senior management.
    • Engage with internal and external auditors regarding technical accounting and reporting issues.
Qualifications:
  • Experience in an audit firm is preferred.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting is required.
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation is mandatory.
  • Four to six years of progressive accounting experience is essential.
  • Experience with ASC 842 lease accounting is preferred.
  • Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP and SEC regulations is necessary.
  • Prior experience with enterprise general ledger systems (Oracle Cloud preferred) is advantageous.
  • Familiarity with CoStar or similar lease management software is preferred.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills are required.
  • Commitment to continuous process improvement is essential.
  • Able to thrive in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities and stakeholder needs.
  • Ability to effectively collaborate with internal and external auditors.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience, including strong interpersonal skills.
