The Manager of Technical and Lease Accounting will oversee the lease accounting operations within the organization and provide support for the technical accounting function. This role involves researching accounting treatments for various transactions, including debt offerings, securitizations, derivatives, and contracts with customers and suppliers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lease Accounting:
    • Oversee the lease accounting close and reporting processes, ensuring adherence to U.S. GAAP, internal controls, and company policies for accurate and timely financial reporting.
    • Manage lease accounting operations, including the review of legal documents, classification testing, and measurement/remeasurement activities.
    • Supervise and mentor staff, fostering their professional growth and development.
    • Review journal entries, reconciliations, roll forwards, flux analyses, and disclosures to ensure the precise processing of financial transactions.
    • Investigate and analyze accounting issues, providing guidance to team members in resolving inquiries.
  • Technical Accounting:
    • Collaborate with internal stakeholders on transactions to ensure correct accounting and reporting practices.
    • Advise management on new accounting and regulatory standards from bodies such as the SEC and FASB.
    • Assist in reviewing external financial reporting documents, including Forms 10-Q, 10-K, S-1, 8-K, and Prospectus materials.
    • Conduct research on technical accounting matters and prepare accounting memos and research papers.
    • Communicate policy and technical issues to the organization, including senior leadership.
    • Engage with internal and external auditors regarding technical accounting and reporting issues.

Qualifications:

  • Experience in an audit firm is preferred.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting is required.
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation is mandatory.
  • Four to six years of progressive accounting experience is necessary.
  • Experience with ASC 842 lease accounting is preferred.
  • Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP and SEC regulations is essential.
  • Familiarity with enterprise general ledger accounting systems, preferably Oracle Cloud.
  • Experience with lease software such as CoStar is preferred.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required.
  • Commitment to continuous process improvement is expected.
  • Able to thrive in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively with auditors.
  • Demonstrated leadership capabilities and team collaboration skills.
  • Exceptional problem-solving and analytical abilities are necessary.
