Overview:

The Manager of Technical and Lease Accounting will oversee the lease accounting operations within the organization while providing support for technical accounting matters. This role involves in-depth research and analysis of accounting practices related to various transactions, including debt offerings, securitizations, derivatives, and contracts with customers and suppliers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lease Accounting:
    • Oversee the lease accounting closing and reporting processes, ensuring adherence to U.S. GAAP, internal controls, and company policies for accurate and timely financial reporting.
    • Manage lease accounting activities, including the review of legal documents, classification testing, and measurement/remeasurement.
    • Supervise and mentor team members, fostering their professional growth.
    • Review journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, roll forwards, flux analyses, and disclosures to ensure precise processing of financial transactions.
    • Investigate and analyze inquiries, providing guidance to staff in resolving issues.
  • Technical Accounting:
    • Collaborate with internal stakeholders on transactions to ensure appropriate accounting and reporting treatment.
    • Advise management on new accounting and regulatory standards, including SEC and FASB updates.
    • Assist in reviewing external financial reporting documents, such as Forms 10-Q, 10-K, S-1, 8-K, and Prospectus.
    • Conduct research on technical accounting matters and prepare accounting memos and research papers.
    • Communicate policy and technical issues to the organization, including senior management.
    • Engage with internal and external auditors regarding technical accounting and reporting issues.

Qualifications:

  • Experience in an audit firm is preferred.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting is required.
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation is mandatory.
  • Four to six years of progressive accounting experience is necessary.
  • Experience with ASC 842 lease accounting is preferred.
  • Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP and SEC regulations is essential.
  • Prior experience with enterprise general ledger accounting systems, preferably Oracle Cloud.
  • Familiarity with CoStar or similar lease software is advantageous.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required.
  • Commitment to continuous process improvement is essential.
  • Able to thrive in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities.
  • Proficient in interacting with internal and external auditors.
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities, with strong interpersonal skills.
  • A collaborative team player, skilled in building relationships across the organization.
  • Exceptional problem-solving and analytical capabilities are necessary.
