Job Overview

Daily Responsibilities:

The Manager of Technical and Lease Accounting will oversee the lease accounting operations of the organization while also supporting the technical accounting team in analyzing various financial transactions, which may include debt arrangements, securitizations, derivatives, and contracts with customers and suppliers.

The compensation range for this position is typically between $107K and $120K+, depending on qualifications and experience.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lease Accounting
    • Oversee the lease accounting closing and reporting processes, ensuring adherence to U.S. GAAP, internal controls, and corporate policies for precise and timely financial reporting.
    • Manage lease accounting activities, including the review of legal documents, classification testing, and measurement/remeasurement tasks.
    • Supervise and mentor team members, fostering their professional growth.
    • Evaluate journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, roll forwards, flux analyses, and disclosures to guarantee accurate financial transaction processing and reporting.
    • Investigate and analyze inquiries, providing guidance to staff in resolving issues.
  • Technical Accounting:
    • Collaborate with internal stakeholders on transactions to ensure appropriate accounting and reporting practices.
    • Advise management on emerging accounting and regulatory standards (e.g., SEC, FASB).
    • Assist in reviewing the organization's external financial documents, including Forms 10-Q, 10-K, S-1, 8-K, and related materials.
    • Conduct research on technical accounting matters and prepare accounting memos and research documents.
    • Communicate policy and technical issues to the organization, including senior leadership.
    • Engage with internal and external auditors regarding technical accounting and reporting issues.
Qualifications:
  • Experience in an audit firm is preferred.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting is required.
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation is mandatory.
  • Four to six years of progressive accounting experience is necessary.
  • Experience with ASC 842 lease accounting is preferred.
  • Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP and SEC regulations is essential.
  • Prior experience with enterprise general ledger systems (Oracle Cloud preferred) is advantageous.
  • Familiarity with CoStar or similar lease management software is a plus.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills are required.
  • Commitment to continuous process improvement is expected.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities is crucial.
  • Strong interpersonal skills for effective interaction with auditors and stakeholders.
  • Proven leadership abilities and a collaborative team player.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills are essential.
