The Educational Support Coordinator undertakes a blend of administrative responsibilities alongside direct services aimed at enhancing the experience of our student body at CPI's Non-Public School, New Directions, which caters to mild-to-moderate special education youth aged 12-22 from various public school districts.

Reporting to the School-Based Services Director, this role collaborates with a team of administrators, educators, and therapists to:
  1. Address students exhibiting heightened behaviors/incidents and act as a supportive intermediary until therapy staff is available.
  2. Organize and lead both individual and group activities focused on college and career exploration.
  3. Facilitate the admissions process in partnership with the administrative team.
  4. Assist students in achieving their specialized academic and social/emotional objectives.

Schedule: 204 workdays per calendar year, including professional development, Regular School Year (RSY), and Extended School Year (ESY).

Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30 AM to 4:00 PM (7.0 hours per day).

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Responsive to Student Needs
    • Provide support to students in crisis intervention, problem-solving, conflict resolution, substance abuse issues, grief, and anger management.
    • Collaborate with therapy staff to ensure smooth transitions for students requiring therapeutic interventions.
  • Supporting Students with Individualized Education Plan (IEP) Goals
    • Utilize trauma-informed and positive behavioral strategies to meet with students individually, aiding their progress towards academic and social/emotional goals.
    • Coordinate college and career transition services as outlined in each student's IEP Transition Goals, including organizing guest speakers, mock interviews, resume workshops, and post-secondary education exploration.
    • Provide data collaboratively to inform the IEP team about student progress and developmental opportunities.
  • Admissions & Referrals
    • Manage the school's referral process by tracking incoming student referrals, creating shared documents, scheduling on-campus tours, and maintaining communication with families and school districts.
    • Ensure that admission documents are current and maintain accurate electronic student case files.
  • Registrar and Credit Tracking
    • Request official transcripts from school districts for evaluation, create credit tracking documents, and work with education specialists to develop graduation pathways for students.
    • Assist in finalizing Progress Reports and Report Cards in collaboration with education specialists and the school office coordinator.
    • Ensure the accuracy of all student documentation and update as necessary.
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Strong attention to detail and proficiency in accurate data entry.
  • Experience with online software, including Google Suite and Microsoft Suite.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with diverse populations in a trauma-informed setting.
  • Capacity to multitask and maintain composure in high-pressure situations.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with experience in collaborative teamwork.
  • Bilingual in Spanish is preferred but not mandatory.
  • Criminal record clearance and negative TB test results are required prior to employment.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Ability to lift up to 25 lbs (supplies).
  • Light walking around the campus.
  • Prolonged periods of sitting and working on a computer and telephone.
