A leading medical services company, Tandym Group, is seeking a seasoned Environmental Health / Radiation Safety Officer to spearhead its comprehensive radiation safety program. In this pivotal role, the successful candidate will be responsible for planning, organizing, developing, and managing all aspects of the program.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Program Development and Implementation: Develop and implement strategic objectives for the Radiation Safety program, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Training and Coaching: Provide training, coaching, and professional development opportunities for site and division leadership involved with radiation safety.
  • Policy and Procedure Development: Develop, approve, review, and implement radiation safety program policies and procedures for the safe use of radioactive materials, ionizing radiation, and radiation-producing machines and equipment.
  • Incident Investigation and Corrective Action: Investigate all incidents and deviations from approved radiation safety policies, procedures, and practices, and implement corrective actions as needed.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Implement new radiation safety and security regulations and requirements, ensuring the company's compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
  • Documentation and Administration: Conduct administration of documentation required for radioactive source transactions, ensuring accurate and timely record-keeping.
Qualifications:
  • Experience: 5+ years of progressive work experience in Radiation Safety, with at least 2 years in Regulatory designation of Radiation Safety Officer in operations, research, or university environments.
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in health physics, medical physics, nuclear engineering, or other relevant field of science, or relevant experience in a Radiation Safety capacity.
  • Knowledge and Skills: Knowledge of federal, state, and local regulations governing the use of radioactive materials, as well as certification by a recognized specialist board such as the National Registry of Radiation Protection Technologists (NRRPT).

  • Industry Knowledge: Strong knowledge of radiation safety principles, regulations (e.g., NRC, OSHA), and industry best practices.
