Position Summary:
The Environmental, Safety, Health & Quality Directorate at City-State, LLC invites applications for Nuclear Safety Engineer positions. Our organization is dedicated to conducting innovative research and providing solutions to complex challenges in energy and security.
Key Responsibilities:
- Engage in the planning and execution of radiological safety measures, including the development of hazard controls and safety protocols.
- Create and review technical documentation, including operational procedures and safety evaluations.
- Conduct shielding calculations to ensure effective protection against various radiation types.
- Oversee the placement and functionality of Continuous Air Monitoring systems within facilities.
- Support modifications to nuclear facilities and perform cost-benefit analyses related to engineering controls.
- Evaluate and approve Radiological Work Permits, ensuring compliance with safety standards.
- Act as a subject matter expert in areas such as glovebox design and air monitoring systems.
- Contribute to emergency response initiatives and participate in safety assessments and incident investigations.
- Mentor junior staff and lead complex technical projects across different teams.
- Promote a culture of safety and integrity in all operations, aligning with our core values.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Health Physics, Engineering, or a related field.
- 5 to 20+ years of relevant experience in radiation protection.
- Proficient understanding of radiation detection and monitoring techniques.
- Ability to meet physical requirements and pass a pre-hire physical examination.
- U.S. Citizenship is required for this position.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's degree in a relevant field.
- Experience with radiation protection programs in compliance with regulatory standards.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
