POSITION TITLE: FACILITIES MAINTENANCE SUPERVISOR

REPORTS TO: PLANT MANAGER

ROLE SUMMARY

The Facilities Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for coordinating the upkeep and repair of various production machinery and equipment, ensuring minimal operational interruptions. This role includes overseeing the setup and operation of production tools and maintaining the facility's infrastructure.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Communicate any operational issues to the General Manager or Plant Manager promptly.
  • Monitor warranties and service agreements, notifying relevant personnel of upcoming expirations.
  • Conduct monthly inventory checks and reconcile with computerized maintenance parts and supplies records.
  • Record utility meter readings and track usage data.
  • Source original equipment manufacturers and aftermarket suppliers to obtain competitive pricing on parts and services.
  • Manage the ordering of parts and supplies, ensuring efficient inventory management.
  • Develop and maintain a cost-effective preventive maintenance program.
  • Oversee contract work and installations performed by external vendors.
  • Enhance professional skills through relevant seminars and technical courses.
  • Be available for on-call support 24/7.
  • Assist in the selection and implementation of capital and expense projects.
  • Ensure compliance with all company policies and procedures, including safety protocols and housekeeping standards.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by management.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

A high school diploma or GED is required.

Proficiency in computer and data entry skills is essential.

Demonstrated experience in personnel management is preferred.

A minimum of four years of maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment is required.

Preferred candidates will have:

Completion of college or related technical courses.

Five years of experience in the corrugated box industry, with significant expertise in electronics, mechanics, hydraulics, pneumatics, and electrical systems.

LANGUAGE PROFICIENCY

Ability to read and interpret safety regulations, operational instructions, and maintenance manuals. Proficient in writing routine reports and correspondence. Capable of effectively communicating with groups of employees or customers.

MATH SKILLS

Ability to accurately read a tape measure and perform calculations involving percentages, measurements, volume, and rates.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply common sense to follow instructions in various formats. Capable of addressing problems involving multiple concrete variables in standardized situations.

TECHNICAL SKILLS

Understanding of equipment design and operational capabilities to enhance efficiency. Ability to make cost-effective decisions that contribute to overall cost reduction and identify areas for improvement. Knowledge of quality standards and regulatory requirements, including OSHA and EEO guidelines.

CERTIFICATIONS

May require maintaining a current Lift Truck Operator License or other relevant certifications for specific equipment operation.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

This role involves regular standing, walking, and communication. Frequent use of hands for handling, reaching, and occasional sitting is required. The ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds regularly and up to 100 pounds occasionally is necessary. Specific vision abilities include close, distance, color, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Employees may be exposed to moving mechanical parts, wet or humid conditions, high places, fumes, airborne particles, and vibrations. The noise level in the work environment is typically loud.
