Job Title: Onsite Safety Manager - Marine Terminal Project

Location: Bellingham, Washington

Position Overview: STC Safety is in search of a skilled Onsite Safety Manager to lead safety initiatives for our Marine Terminal Project in Bellingham, Washington. The successful candidate will be committed to cultivating a safety-first environment, ensuring adherence to all applicable regulations, and promoting teamwork in risk management. Required certifications include 40-hour HAZWOPER, 8-hour HAZWOPER Supervisor, and OSHA30.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Formulate and execute detailed safety policies and procedures tailored to the marine terminal project.
  • Perform routine safety assessments and audits to pinpoint potential risks and verify compliance with local, state, and federal laws.
  • Deliver continuous safety training and education for project staff, subcontractors, and suppliers.
  • Lead investigations into incidents, assess root causes, and apply corrective measures to avert future occurrences.
  • Work closely with project management and site teams to weave safety into every facet of project planning and execution.
  • Keep precise records of safety-related activities, including inspections, training sessions, incidents, and near misses.
  • Act as the main contact for safety-related communications with regulatory bodies, clients, and stakeholders.
  • Stay updated on industry best practices and emerging trends to improve safety performance and effectiveness.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in safety management within the construction sector, ideally in maritime or terminal environments.
  • In-depth knowledge of relevant safety regulations, including OSHA, EPA, and Coast Guard standards.
  • 40-hour HAZWOPER, 8-hour HAZWOPER Supervisor, and OSHA30 certifications are mandatory.
  • Strong leadership capabilities with the ability to engage and influence stakeholders at all levels.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, capable of effectively training and motivating diverse teams.
  • Proven history of developing successful safety programs and driving continuous improvement efforts.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and safety management software.
  • Willingness to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and travel to project sites as necessary.
