Job Summary

Thompson Pump is seeking a skilled Assembly Mechanic to join our team. As an Assembly Mechanic, you will be responsible for constructing, maintaining, and testing mechanical equipment, machinery, and components. This role requires a strong understanding of mechanical systems, including hydraulic and pneumatic systems, and the ability to read and follow blueprints and work instructions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Build new pumps and provide assistance in the installation, troubleshooting, and maintenance of mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems and controls.
  • Maintain test standards and equipment in accordance with ISO procedures.
  • Operate specialized equipment, such as tape measures, band saws, hand grinders, and steam cleaners.
  • Perform basic metalworking duties, including measuring, cutting, grinding, drilling, and deburring parts.
  • Assemble components using basic hand tools.
  • Read and follow blueprints and work instructions.
  • Perform a wide range of shop duties to support the Engineering Group.
  • Maintain work area and equipment.
Requirements
  • High School diploma or GED required; graduate of a technical/vocational training program is preferred.
  • Industry Certification Preferred.
  • Entry Level Position.
  • Must have good working knowledge of D.C. electrical systems and troubleshooting.
  • Requires the ability to read wiring diagrams and troubleshooting guides.
  • The ability to work productively in teams as well as individually.
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Ability to write simple correspondence.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
