The Process Controller will monitor and manage forging operations to ensure compliance with metallurgical and manufacturing standards. This role involves taking corrective actions and making recommendations to maintain control over forging processes, ensuring the highest product quality.

Training Requirements:

The selected candidate must be available for a 6-month training period across various shifts, which includes:

  • 2 months on 2nd shift (Monday to Friday, 3 PM - 11 PM)
  • 2 months on night shift (Sunday to Thursday, 11 PM - 7 AM, off Friday morning)
  • 2 months on 1st shift (Monday to Friday, 7 AM - 3 PM)

Upon completion of training, the Process Controller will be assigned a specific shift, likely the night shift.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and regulate forge shop furnaces to ensure temperature accuracy and uniformity according to internal and customer specifications.
  • Monitor and document the production of forged parts requiring metallurgical oversight.
  • Report deviations from customer specifications or established forge procedures to supervision, engineering, and management.
  • Utilize temperature measuring instruments, such as optical/infrared pyrometers, for evaluating stock, forgings, furnaces, and tooling.
  • Propose modifications to Forging Instructions or Manufacturing Orders in collaboration with Forge Shop Supervision, Manufacturing Engineering, and Metallurgical Engineering.
  • Conduct analysis tasks, including reviewing heating times for operations, downtime assessments, and investigating production issues.
  • Stay updated on metallurgical advancements that may impact forging quality by collaborating closely with Metallurgical Engineers and Manufacturing Engineers.
  • Support ATI Forged Products, Safety, and Quality Programs, ensuring adherence to safe work practices.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Fundamental reading, mathematical, and measurement skills are essential. The ability to interpret instructions and execute basic measurements is critical.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Associate degree in Metallurgy is preferred.
  • Prior experience with heavy manufacturing equipment is advantageous.
