About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Plant Maintenance Supervisor to join our team at Smithfield Foods. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for leading maintenance crews in the installation, repair, and preventive maintenance of equipment used throughout the plant, facilities, utilities, and powerhouse equipment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead Maintenance Teams: Direct and supervise maintenance crews to ensure efficient and effective maintenance operations.
  • Maintenance Planning: Develop and implement maintenance plans to minimize downtime and maximize equipment availability.
  • Equipment Maintenance: Oversee the installation, repair, and preventive maintenance of equipment to ensure optimal performance and efficiency.
  • Process Optimization: Collaborate with production teams to identify and implement process improvements to reduce mechanical downtime and increase productivity.
  • Training and Development: Provide training and guidance to maintenance personnel to ensure they have the necessary skills and knowledge to perform their duties effectively.
  • Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records of maintenance work performed, including inventory and scheduling data.
  • Reporting: Provide regular status reports to maintenance management team.
Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience: 2+ years of relevant experience in maintenance operations, preferably in a large manufacturing environment.
  • Technical Skills: Advanced technical skills in ammonia refrigeration, high-pressure boiler, compressed air, mechanical, and electrical fields, including PLCs, instrumentation, and mechanical engineering.
  • Leadership Skills: Strong leadership skills, including conflict resolution, facilitation, change management, decision-making, empowerment, and delegation.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Other Requirements: Ability to work well in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, with strong planning and priority-setting skills, and ability to be respectful, approachable, and team-oriented.
Work Environment

The work environment will include a combination of office and plant settings, with exposure to wet or humid conditions, extreme temperatures, and chemicals. The noise level will be moderate to loud, and occasional lifting of up to 50 pounds may be required.
