Position Summary

We are seeking a seasoned and driven Senior Cost Accountant to become a vital part of our Accounting team. This role will oversee critical areas such as inventory management, standard costing, and cost of goods sold, reporting directly to the Cost Accounting Manager. This position offers a hybrid work model requiring onsite presence 2-3 times per week.

Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure the accuracy of inventory valuation and standard cost updates by maintaining the standard cost system.
  • Lead the preparation of month-end close journal entries related to inventory and cost of goods sold, ensuring compliance with SOX regulations.
  • Manage and analyze key variances, including PPV, Material, Labor, and Overhead variances, while fostering relationships with supply chain, manufacturing, and distribution teams to address variance inquiries.
  • Support the analysis and maintenance of Bill of Materials (BOM) as necessary.
  • Collaborate with various departments to resolve issues in production, purchasing, accounts payable, receiving, and shipping.
  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive understanding of global inventory transactions and valuation, including exposure to excess and obsolete inventory.
  • Prepare monthly reporting on Inventory and Cost of Goods Sold, including detailed flux analysis.
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP and maintain controls within the cost accounting function.
  • Play a key role in developing and maintaining SOX controls related to costing and inventory, including training for cross-functional teams.
  • Lead the creation of monthly metrics to enhance the operations department's and FP&A's review of gross margins.
  • Act as a liaison to the operations team to implement an effective cycle count program.
  • Support the financial audit process, including driving annual physical inventory procedures and gathering necessary documentation.
  • Drive digital transformation efforts in cost accounting and operations, leveraging prior experience to scale the function.
  • Continuously improve and refine costing procedures and systems to align with evolving business needs.
  • Participate in ad hoc special projects as required.
Qualifications

Basic:

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
  • A minimum of 4 years of cost accounting experience in publicly traded companies.
  • Experience in a manufacturing setting.
  • Knowledge of U.S. GAAP and SOX compliance.

Preferred:

  • Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel for data analysis.
  • Proven ability to develop business processes and take ownership of tasks and projects.
  • Strong attention to detail.
Work Environment

This position is hybrid, requiring onsite presence 2-3 times per week.
