Position Title:
Accounting Internship

Relocation Assistance:
Currently, no relocation assistance is available.

Remote/Telework:
This position does not offer remote work options.

Clearance Type:
DoD Secret clearance is required.

Shift:
Day shift (Monday to Friday)

Travel Requirements:
Up to 10% travel may be necessary.

Key Responsibilities:
The Accounting Internship plays a vital role in supporting the Missile Defense Agency (MDA) under the Integrated Research and Development for Enterprise Solutions (IRES) contract.

  • Process accounts payable invoices related to contracts, operational expenses, subcontractors, and materials.
  • Verify labor charges from teammates against vendor invoices.
  • Route vendor invoices for necessary approvals and ensure accurate cost distribution.
  • Ensure timely vendor payments and maintain communication regarding payment statuses.
  • Handle reimbursements in line with contract stipulations, company policies, and federal regulations.
  • Reconcile outstanding payables and assist with month-end accruals for unpaid expenses.
  • Create and upload necessary files for processing purchasing credit cards.
  • Maintain accurate purchase order updates in collaboration with other departments.
  • Exhibit excellent customer service towards vendors, employees, and internal teams.
  • Adhere to attendance requirements due to recurring weekly deadlines.
  • Maintain records in compliance with retention policies for potential audits.
  • Assist in record retrieval and expense reconciliations during audits.
  • Identify opportunities for process enhancements and propose solutions.

This internship is designed to last for six months from the start date. Candidates must submit resumes in month and year format for consideration. Selected candidates may be assigned to one of our partner companies.

Qualifications:
Basic Requirements:
Applicants must meet one of the following educational and experience combinations: a high school diploma (or GED) with one year of general experience, or an associate's degree with no prior experience. Additionally, candidates must have completed 25 college credit hours in a business-related field.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, and Outlook) is essential.
Candidates should demonstrate responsiveness, flexibility, organizational skills, and attention to detail.
Ability to work both independently and collaboratively is crucial.
Effective communication skills with internal and external stakeholders are required.
Applicants must possess an active DoD Secret Clearance or be able to obtain one within 90 days of the job offer.

This position offers an annual salary of $42,000, contingent on experience, education, and relevant certifications.
