Position Summary:
We are currently seeking an experienced Inland Marine Underwriter to join our team in Chicago. This role is ideal for a professional with over three years of underwriting experience who is eager to broaden their responsibilities and enhance their underwriting expertise while developing a robust portfolio. The successful candidate will embody a strong work ethic, a collaborative spirit, and a relentless pursuit of excellence. Experience in Inland Marine lines, particularly in Contractors' Equipment and Motor Truck Cargo, is highly desirable.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Expand and cultivate the Inland Marine portfolio, particularly in the Midwest region.
  • Build and strengthen relationships with brokers and clients, both independently and in collaboration with other BHSI product lines.
  • Underwrite and enhance the existing book of business.
  • Evaluate new business opportunities.
  • Thrive in a dynamic environment, managing multiple tasks and making prompt decisions while upholding underwriting standards.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • 3-5+ years of experience in the insurance industry.
  • Preferred background in Inland underwriting and appetite.
  • Established relationships with brokers.
  • Strong underwriting expertise.
  • Comprehensive understanding of policy forms, including broker manuscripts.
  • Experience in marketing to specialized brokers.
  • Demonstrated success in client development.
  • Basic knowledge of CAT peril modeling and pricing.
  • Excellent collaboration and team-building abilities.
  • Self-motivated and entrepreneurial mindset.
  • Exceptional communication skills, including advanced negotiation and presentation capabilities.
