Underwriter - Employment Practices Liability

Tokio Marine HCC - Cyber and Professional Lines Group is seeking a motivated, analytical, and relationship-oriented underwriter to enhance our Employment Practices Liability Insurance (EPLI) underwriting division. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a commitment to analytical and systematic underwriting, emphasizing client service and relationship cultivation. Each day presents unique challenges, as the underwriter's responsibilities encompass various industry sectors and revenue scales.

Hybrid Work Model: 3 days per week in the designated office.

Position Summary

This role is focused on production underwriting within a close-knit team of driven and productive professionals. You will be tasked with underwriting both new and renewal business while nurturing relationships with key clients to meet shared objectives. Independence and the ability to seek guidance when necessary are essential, as is a proactive approach to promoting positive change and achieving results in a dynamic environment.

Performance Goals

Production - Meet individual premium and production targets, which encompass:

Management and underwriting of your renewal portfolio, achieving a targeted renewal retention ratio, and providing ongoing service throughout the year.

New business premium objectives, quoting, and workflow management targets.

Marketing & Relationship Management - In this capacity, you will be responsible for promoting our products and proactively building positive relationships with key clients. Profitability and Compliance - Profitability is a cornerstone of our corporate objectives; we believe that maintaining discipline and operating within your underwriting authority and guidelines will lead to a successful book of business. Collaboration/Teamwork - Our collective goals are achieved through teamwork, necessitating collaboration with peers and other aligned business units, including claims, product development, accounting, and operations. Underwriting Expertise - We encourage continual development of your underwriting knowledge, supported by on-the-job learning and guidance from our team. This objective not only adds value to our team but also contributes to your personal growth.

Qualifications & Education

• Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, or a related field, or equivalent education and/or experience.
• Two to four years of relevant underwriting experience in Employment Practices Liability or a related area.
  • Consideration will also be given to candidates with less direct underwriting experience if their current role supports another E&S product.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
• Progress towards obtaining a Registered Professional Liability Underwriter (RPLU), Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU), Associate in Commercial Underwriting (AU), Certified Insurance Counselor (CIC), or equivalent insurance designation based on specialty area.

Travel Requirements

• May involve travel outside of the work location up to 10% of the time, both locally and out of state.
