Underwriter - Employment Practices Liability

Tokio Marine HCC - Cyber and Professional Lines Group is in search of a motivated, detail-oriented, and relationship-driven underwriter to enhance our Employment Practices Liability Insurance (EPLI) underwriting division. The ideal candidate will have a strong commitment to methodical underwriting with an emphasis on client service and relationship cultivation. Each day presents unique challenges, with underwriting responsibilities covering various industry sectors and revenue scales.

Work Arrangement: Hybrid model with three days per week in the office.

Position Summary

This role involves direct market engagement as part of a cohesive team of driven professionals. You will manage both new and renewal underwriting processes while fostering relationships with key clients to meet collective goals. The ability to work autonomously while knowing when to seek guidance is essential, along with a proactive approach to promoting positive changes and achieving results in a dynamic environment.

Performance Goals

Production - Meet individual premium and production targets, including managing your renewal portfolio and achieving a desired retention ratio while servicing renewals throughout the year.

New business premium objectives, quoting, and workflow management targets.

Marketing & Relationship Management - This role entails promoting our products and proactively building positive relationships with key clients. Profitability and Compliance - Profitability is a cornerstone of our corporate goals; developing a profitable book of business requires discipline and adherence to underwriting authority and guidelines. Collaboration/Teamwork - Achieving our collective objectives necessitates teamwork, requiring collaboration with peers and other business units such as claims, product development, accounting, and operations. Underwriting Proficiency - Continuous development of underwriting expertise is encouraged through on-the-job learning and support, adding value to our team and contributing to personal growth.

Qualifications & Education

• Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• Two to four years of relevant underwriting experience in Employment Practices Liability or a related field.
  • Candidates with less direct underwriting experience may be considered if their current role supports another E&S product.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
• Progress towards obtaining a Registered Professional Liability Underwriter (RPLU), Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU), Associate in Commercial Underwriting (AU), Certified Insurance Counselor (CIC), or equivalent insurance designation based on specialty area.

Travel Requirements

• Occasional travel outside of the primary work location may be necessary, up to 10% of the time, both locally and out of state.
