Diagnostic Imaging Specialist, Full Time, Nights

Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled MRI Technologist to join our team at Northwest Community Hospital. As an MRI Technologist, you will be responsible for performing MRI procedures with minimal supervision, documenting procedures, and maintaining patient records.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform all established MRI imaging procedures, selecting proper technique protocols.
- Prepare and position patients for MRI procedures, using immobilization devices as required.
- Process and develop images per established procedures.
- Demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to assess, treat, and care for all age groups of patients, implementing assessment/treatment/care based on the developmental stages of the patient.
- Involve family/guardian in plan of care and conduct patient and family education, as appropriate, considering the developmental needs of the patient.
- Retrieve medications that are not controlled substances.
- Maintain an orderly and clean work environment.
- Perform established calibration and quality control procedures to assure optimal quality of MRI equipment and service, notifying supervisor of unusual findings.
- Participate in maintaining appropriate patient and operational records consistent with the main Radiology Department.
- Assume responsibility for own professional growth by attending Continuing Education classes, seminars, and by reading professional journals, providing input and suggestions regarding technological improvements in MRI services.
- Attend inservices and technical meetings, as required.
Requirements:
- ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists), ARMRIT (American Registry of Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technologists) registered as an MR technologist, OR ARRT registered and 6 months supervised MRI clinical scanning experience, OR Associate degree or bachelor degree in allied health field, and Certification in another clinical imaging field (such as ARDMS or NMTCB), and 6 months supervised MRI clinical scanning experience, OR Performing MRI prior to and continuously since October 1996, and evaluated by responsible physician to assure competence.
- One year MRI experience is preferred; expertise in transverse anatomy.
- Knowledge of and/or experience in the correct use of body mechanics.
- Current CPR certification.
- The interpersonal skills necessary to interact effectively with patients who may be anxious or confused and to interact with physicians and other hospital staff.
- The analytical ability to determine proper patient positioning and computer codes based on suspected pathology, patient size and age, and other controlling factors.
- The written and verbal communication skills necessary to document patient procedures and inform patients regarding procedures.
Preferred Qualifications:
- One year MRI experience.
- Expertise in transverse anatomy.
Working Conditions:
This position requires working in a fast-paced environment with frequent interruptions. The MRI Technologist must be able to work independently and as part of a team, with minimal supervision.
