Position Overview:

This role involves working full time during night shifts, with occasional weekend duties. Reporting to the Director of Radiology/Imaging, you will collaborate closely with the Manager and Team Facilitator, performing MRI procedures under the guidance of radiologists while ensuring patient safety and care.


Key Responsibilities:
  1. Conduct all standard MRI imaging procedures, selecting appropriate technique protocols.
  2. Prepare and position patients for MRI scans, utilizing immobilization devices as necessary.
  3. Process and develop images according to established protocols.
  4. Exhibit the knowledge and skills essential for assessing, treating, and caring for patients across all age groups, from neonates to geriatrics; implement care based on the developmental stages of the patient.

  5. Engage family members or guardians in the care plan and provide education to patients and families, considering their developmental needs.

  6. Retrieve non-controlled medications as needed.
  7. Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
  8. Execute calibration and quality control procedures to ensure optimal MRI equipment performance; report any unusual findings to the supervisor.

  9. Assist in maintaining accurate patient and operational records in alignment with the Radiology Department standards.
  10. Take initiative for personal professional development by attending continuing education sessions, seminars, and reading relevant professional literature; contribute ideas for technological advancements in MRI services.

  11. Participate in required inservices and technical meetings.

Qualifications:
  1. ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists) or ARMRIT (American Registry of Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technologists) certification as an MR technologist, or ARRT certification with six months of supervised MRI clinical scanning experience, or an Associate or Bachelor’s degree in an allied health field with certification in another clinical imaging field (such as ARDMS or NMTCB) and six months of supervised MRI clinical scanning experience, or continuous MRI practice since October 1996 with evaluation by a responsible physician to confirm competence.
  2. Preferred: One year of MRI experience with expertise in transverse anatomy.
  3. Knowledge of proper body mechanics usage.
  4. Current CPR certification.
  5. Strong interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with patients who may be anxious or confused, as well as with physicians and other healthcare staff.

  6. Analytical skills to determine appropriate patient positioning and computer codes based on suspected pathology, patient size, age, and other relevant factors.

  7. Effective written and verbal communication skills for documenting patient procedures and explaining processes to patients.
