Position Summary
The Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) plays a crucial role in assessing and addressing the medical needs of patients in urgent situations.
This position involves evaluating the severity of a patient's condition and identifying any pre-existing health issues.
EMTs provide immediate care for minor injuries at the scene of incidents or in patients' homes, ensuring that appropriate treatment is administered prior to transport to a healthcare facility.
For more complex medical emergencies, EMTs will perform necessary interventions under the guidance of medical professionals via radio communication during transport.
Required Qualifications
Certification as an EMT-Paramedic is mandatory. Comprehensive knowledge of human anatomy and physiology is essential. Responsible for overseeing shift operations, including EMS call coverage and daily activities. Proficiency in pharmacology is required. Maintain readiness of EMS supplies and equipment. Adhere to all regulations and protocols relevant to EMS functions. Effective oral and written communication skills are necessary. Ability to collaborate with other healthcare professionals. Follow directives from Emergency Room Physicians and Charge Nurses. Capable of performing under pressure with minimal supervision. Safely operate emergency vehicles. Maintain professionalism in all interactions. Engage in public relations activities with proficiency.Educational and Certification Requirements
Experience:
Continuing education units (CEUs) must be obtained as per certification standards.
Licensure and Certifications:
A valid Class D driver's license is required.
Evidence of EMT certification recertification must be provided bi-annually.
BLS and ACLS certifications are mandatory.
A diploma or official transcript reflecting the highest level of education must be submitted.
Skills and Competencies:
Commitment to professional development through independent study and attendance at relevant continuing education programs.
Proficient in reading, writing, speaking, and understanding English.
Successful completion of a physical abilities assessment may be required.
