Position Overview

Assess the nature and severity of the patient's condition while determining any pre-existing health issues.

Provide immediate care for minor injuries at the scene of an incident or in the patient's residence prior to or instead of hospital transport.

More complex emergency interventions are performed under the guidance of medical professionals via radio communication before or during patient transport.

Certification as an EMT-Paramedic is required.

Key Responsibilities

  • Must possess a solid understanding of human anatomy and physiology.
  • Ensure operational readiness for shifts, including coverage for EMS calls, support for absent team members, and daily EMS functions.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in pharmacological practices.
  • Maintain EMS equipment and supplies in optimal condition.
  • Adhere to all regulations and guidelines relevant to EMS duties.
  • Exhibit strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Collaborate effectively with other healthcare professionals.
  • Follow directives from Emergency Room Physicians.
  • Work under the supervision of the Emergency Room Charge Nurse when in the hospital.
  • Perform effectively under pressure with minimal oversight.
  • Operate emergency vehicles in a safe manner.
  • Maintain professionalism at all times.
  • Exhibit proficiency in public relations activities.

Required Qualifications

Experience:

Complete Continuing Education Units (CEUs) as per certification requirements.

Licensure and Certification:

Hold a valid Class D driver's license.

Provide proof of EMT certification recertification every two years.

Must be BLS certified.

Must be ACLS certified.

Present a diploma or official transcript reflecting the highest level of education attained.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Demonstrate ongoing professional development through self-directed learning.

Attend relevant continuing education sessions related to EMS.

Ability to read, write, speak, and comprehend English proficiently.

May require successful completion of a physical abilities assessment.
