Academic Budget Specialist

The Academic and Student Affairs Budget Specialist plays a critical role in supporting the Provost in the administration of budgets and financial transactions. This position requires a high level of organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities- Monitor and manage budgets for the Provost's office and other departments within Academic and Student Affairs.
- Submit budget transfers and process financial transactions as directed by the Provost.
- Assist the Provost with annual budget planning and preparation of budget documents.
- Track and process budget manager authority documents and maintain accurate records.
- Process financial transactions, including requesting quotes, generating purchase orders, and submitting reimbursements.
- Prepare travel documents and submit expense reports.
- Reconcile P-Card statements and maintain records in accordance with state requirements.
- Create budget and financial reports, correspondence, and presentations as requested by the Provost.
- Maintain office supplies and perform other administrative duties as assigned.
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.
- Three years of experience in higher education, with a focus on budgeting and financial management.
- Five years of experience in a general office environment with accounting experience.
- Graduate degree from an accredited institution.
- Three or more years of experience in higher education, with a focus on budgeting and financial management.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, Banner, and Peoplesoft.
The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication and organizational skills, with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment. They will also have a strong understanding of budgeting and financial management principles, as well as experience with financial software and systems.
