At Northrop Grumman, our employees are presented with remarkable opportunities to engage in groundbreaking systems that significantly influence lives globally, both now and in the future.

Our culture is fueled by intellectual curiosity, diverse perspectives, and the freedom to bring your authentic self to work — coupled with an unwavering commitment to achieve what others deem unfeasible.

The Production Engineering sector is an integral part of Northrop Grumman's Baltimore Synergy Design Life Cycle (DLC) Engineering organization, offering technical assistance to various hardware engineering teams.

The Production Engineering team is tasked with facilitating new Projects and Programs as they transition from the Design Phase to the hardware manufacturing stage.

This support extends throughout production and into post-production phases.

Key responsibilities include the creation of Bills of Material (BOM), requests for new parts and materials, drawing evaluations and releases, modifications to existing designs, configuration control board (CCB) support, resolution of shop floor issues, and addressing DMS challenges.

Production Engineering also delivers Mechanical/Electrical NX and Expedition design assistance.

As the Production Engineering Manager, you will oversee a technical team of approximately 5-8 engineers, guiding them through these tasks while collaborating with other managers in the Synergy organization to ensure Programs meet drawing release timelines, manage design updates, support manufacturing cells, interface with suppliers, resolve DMS challenges, and provide other production-related engineering assistance.

This role includes supporting the transition to the new Mission PLM system and its associated processes, as well as fostering early career development within the DLC organization.

The manager will also be accountable for staffing strategies, performance evaluations, goal setting, process enhancements, and recruitment to effectively manage workload demands and skill attrition.

Employee engagement and development will be prioritized through a blend of training, career coaching, mentoring, identification of challenging assignments, and action planning for engagement.

The manager will strive to achieve performance objectives while considering the work/life balance of the team.

The ideal candidate should possess strong communication skills and the ability to cultivate and sustain relationships with direct reports, clients, and cross-organizational partners.

The manager is expected to maintain a technical or project leadership role that constitutes the remaining 85%.

A Bachelor's Degree in a STEM discipline with 5+ years of relevant experience in an engineering and/or technical leadership capacity, or a Master's Degree with 3+ years of relevant experience is required.
