Position SummaryWe are currently seeking a Composite Design Engineer to become an integral part of our engineering team. This role will focus on the design and development of composite products, with an emphasis on radomes for airborne applications.
Key Responsibilities- Design Leadership: Direct the design efforts for composite structures, ensuring compliance with customer specifications.
- Project Management: Act as the lead engineer on development projects, overseeing task assignments, schedule adherence, and budget management.
- Collaboration: Work in conjunction with electrical and manufacturing engineers to support a variety of programs.
- Vendor Coordination: Generate statements of work, liaise with vendors, and evaluate results for structural analysis and environmental testing.
- Customer Engagement: Interface with clients to address inquiries, deliver presentations, and provide product application data.
- Business Development Support: Offer technical insights during sales engagements and assist in proposal development, including cost estimations.
- Operational Support: Provide engineering assistance for root cause analysis and corrective actions, participating in Material Review Board activities.
Applicants should possess a Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering or an equivalent qualification. A minimum of ten years of experience in a design engineering role focused on composites is required. A graduate degree in Materials Engineering or a related field may substitute for some experience.
Preferred qualifications include:
- A degree in Mechanical or Materials Engineering with a focus on Composites.
- Experience in the Aerospace or Defense sectors, specifically in developing composite structures.
- Familiarity with various composite structures utilized in radomes.
- Proficiency in preparing technical proposals and cost estimates.
- Experience with CAD software, preferably Solidworks or CATIA.
This position involves a combination of sitting, standing, and walking. Candidates should be able to exert up to 10 pounds of force frequently and occasionally up to 20 pounds. The work environment is typically moderate in noise level, with occasional requirements for ear protection.
