Job Summary:

The Lead Security Systems Technician will serve as the on-site coordinator and crew supervisor for the installation of security systems, including card access, CCTV, CATV, and intrusion systems, in accordance with manufacturer requirements and engineered drawings. This role will ensure job completion in accordance with company and customer quality and safety standards while maintaining the efficiency of the assigned staff.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Supervise project crews, ensuring effective performance and providing necessary training.
  • Assume responsibility for adherence to company and customer safety and quality guidelines, and hold weekly safety meetings.
  • Coordinate with the Security Systems Project Manager to ensure productivity, job completion, and compliance with project budget.
  • Complete all necessary paperwork accurately and on time, including timesheets, material transfers, work orders, change orders, and tool transfers.
  • Serve as the main on-site customer contact for questions and concerns, and attend facility and construction meetings as required.
  • Perform work demonstrating a detailed level of technical knowledge of security systems, troubleshoot and resolve technical issues as they arise.

  • Act as the company liaison for interface with customer representatives.
  • Proven problem-solving skills, critical thinking skills, and ability to effectively read, write, and give oral presentations.
  • Ability to work at heights, off of a ladder, and in confined spaces, lift up to 50 pounds, and move up to 75 pounds.
  • Ability to see and distinguish different colors, read small print, and hear and recognize audible signals such as dial tones.
  • Ability to travel within the branch territory and/or regional territory as needed.
Tools and Equipment:
  • Basic hand tools, including screwdrivers, drywall saw, torpedo level, tape measure, snips, pliers, hammer, cable stripper, insulated crimping tool, flashlight, and gloves.
  • Multimeter, butt-set, toner/wand, coax compression and/or hex crimp tool.
Education, Certification, License, and Skill Requirements:
  • High School diploma or GED equivalency.
  • Minimum of three (5) years of experience in security systems installation.
  • Minimum of six (12) months supervisory and/or managerial experience.
  • Ability to effectively use the listed tools.
  • Proven skill level to interpret blueprints and other project documents, including specifications, reporting, and quality requirements.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and MS Project).
