Inclusion Support Specialist for Afterschool Programs

POSITION OVERVIEW
The Inclusion Support Specialist collaborates with the leadership team at their designated site. This role is essential for assisting students requiring additional support in afterschool settings. The Inclusion Support Specialist exemplifies leadership qualities and fosters a welcoming and inclusive atmosphere for students needing extra assistance, as well as their families.
Administrative Responsibilities
- Collaborate with site leadership to develop resources for students needing support in emotional and behavioral management.
- Work with inclusion consultants to create individualized plans for students, outlining daily goals and partnering with families on reward systems for consistency across environments.
- Assist in managing the emotions and behaviors of students on the Autism Spectrum and those requiring additional emotional support.
- Facilitate emotional regulation for students experiencing heightened feelings.
- Support educators in managing conflicts among students.
- Help establish behavior agreements between the afterschool program and families when necessary.
- Demonstrate strategies for educators to engage all students needing extra support.
- Provide assistance in a sensory room to aid students in achieving emotional regulation.
- Serve as a positive role model for children and colleagues.
- Promote an inclusive atmosphere for all participants and staff.
- Demonstrate the ability to thrive in a dynamic team environment.
- Manage multiple tasks effectively to meet organizational objectives.
- Exhibit proactive behavior and strong consensus-building skills.
- Maintain a goal-oriented approach with meticulous attention to detail.
- Engage in regular staff meetings.
- Commit to the mission of Elevated and demonstrate knowledge or a willingness to learn about community values and traditions.
- Consistent attendance is crucial, as this role is integral to the success of the afterschool program.
- 1-2 years of experience working with children on the spectrum is preferred.
- 1-2 years of experience with children in grades K-5 is preferred.
- Training in ABA or other Special Education methodologies is preferred.
- Strong communication and organizational skills are essential.
- Ability to plan and implement strategies to achieve organizational goals.
- Teamwork capabilities are necessary.
- Physical ability to lift and carry objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to remain active for extended periods.
- Capability to assist children with various physical needs.
- Ability to respond promptly to the needs of young children.
- Regular attendance and availability for a full shift are required.
