Job Summary

The JCC East Bay seeks a highly motivated and experienced Afterschool Educator to join our team at the Joaquin Miller Elementary location. As a key member of our Afterschool Program, you will be responsible for creating a positive and engaging learning environment for children in kindergarten through fifth grade.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement developmentally appropriate classes and activities for children in kindergarten through fifth grade.
  • Supervise and support children in a variety of settings, including structured and unstructured activities.
  • Establish and communicate clear objectives for all learning activities.
  • Observe and evaluate students' performance, providing constructive feedback and guidance.
  • Provide individualized support and tutoring to students as needed.
  • Manage student behavior and maintain a safe and respectful learning environment.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to develop and implement program goals and objectives.
  • Participate in ongoing professional development and training sessions to enhance skills and knowledge.
Requirements
  • 2+ years of experience in childcare or a related field.
  • Experience working with children in kindergarten through fifth grade.
  • BA in Education or a related field preferred.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to lead a classroom of children and work in a team environment.
  • Ability to push/pull and lift/carry objects weighing 50 pounds.
  • Ability to walk and stand for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to sit on floors and chairs, and to get up and down quickly.
  • Ability to bend from knees and waist to help a child.
  • Ability to respond without delay to the needs of young children.
Benefits
