Visitor Experience Coordinator

The National Museum of African American Music is on the lookout for enthusiastic individuals to join our team as Visitor Experience Coordinators. This role is essential in ensuring that all guests have a memorable and enjoyable visit to the Museum.

As a Visitor Experience Coordinator, your responsibilities will include:

  • Delivering exceptional customer service to enhance visitor satisfaction.
  • Managing ticket sales and membership registrations, ensuring accurate processing of admissions and fees.
  • Engaging with guests throughout the exhibit spaces, addressing inquiries and resolving any concerns.
  • Monitoring compliance with safety protocols and assisting with the flow of visitors in and out of exhibits.
  • Providing orientation to guests about Museum programs, events, and facilities.
  • Handling cash transactions with precision and ensuring a balanced cash drawer at the end of each shift.
  • Promoting annual memberships by explaining the benefits and answering questions from potential members.
  • Assisting visitors with parking arrangements and ensuring they are aware of designated areas.
  • Responding to emergencies and reporting any incidents to management promptly.
  • Supporting other departments with clerical tasks as needed.
  • Contributing to the operation of the Museum Gift Shop when required.

This position requires:

  • A high school diploma is preferred.
  • At least one year of experience in a customer service role within the hospitality industry.
  • Previous experience in a museum or similar environment is highly desirable.
  • Flexibility to work varied hours, including weekends and holidays.
  • Ability to master ticket sales and online registration systems.
  • Capacity to stand for extended periods while interacting with the public.
