Position Overview

Applied Research Associates (ARA), Inc. is seeking a Senior Financial Analyst with a diverse skill set and extensive experience. The ideal candidate will be proactive, adaptable, and able to meet deadlines while working within our Integrated Missions Systems (IMS) sector. This role involves collaboration with technical project managers and clients to facilitate essential project functions.

Key Responsibilities

+ Collaborate with technical project leads, project managers, subcontractors, and external vendors to analyze and monitor budget allocations and incurred expenses throughout the project lifecycle.

+ Partner with the PMO Integrated Performer Team (IPT) to develop spending plans and assess planned versus actual costs over time.

+ Conduct proactive financial data analysis to identify necessary actions for aligning project financial commitments with available funding.

+ Assist project managers in tracking outstanding financial obligations to subcontractors and vendors, while building and monitoring financial forecasts that reflect both incurred and anticipated costs.

+ Support the creation of project cost estimates and subcontractor Requests for Proposal (RFP) by utilizing approved templates and adhering to established company protocols.

+ Prepare spreadsheets, charts, and narrative summaries that effectively communicate financial performance for program management reviews, progress reports, and client presentations.

Qualifications

+ U.S. citizenship is mandatory; candidates must be eligible to obtain and maintain a security clearance, with current clearance preferred.

+ Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related field, accompanied by a minimum of 2 years of experience in a business setting.

+ Familiarity with extracting financial data reports from Finance, Planning, and Analysis (FP&A) tools (e.g., CostPoint, Cognos, Power BI, etc.).

+ Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel modeling.

+ Ability to interpret financial data and propose proactive measures to address discrepancies from expected projections.

+ Skill in summarizing extensive financial data into charts and graphics to effectively convey key insights.

+ Proficient in articulating budgets to technical project leaders, subcontractors, and clients.

+ Experience in a collaborative team environment, with the capacity to work efficiently under tight deadlines and engage with a diverse range of personnel.

+ Strong interpersonal and verbal/written communication skills.
