Position Overview
Applied Research Associates, Inc. is seeking a Senior Financial Analyst who possesses a diverse skill set and experience. The ideal candidate is proactive, adaptable, and thrives under deadlines. This role is situated within our Integrated Missions Systems (IMS) sector. The selected individual will collaborate closely with program management office (PMO) personnel and assist technical project managers and clients in executing essential project functions.
Key Responsibilities
+ Collaborate with technical project leads, project managers, subcontractors, external vendors, and PMO staff throughout the project lifecycle to effectively analyze and monitor budget allocations and incurred expenses.
+ Partner with the PMO Integrated Performer Team (IPT) to develop spending plans and assess planned versus actual costs over time.
+ Conduct proactive financial data analysis and identify necessary actions to realign project financial commitments with available funding.
+ Assist the project manager in tracking outstanding financial obligations to subcontractors and vendors, while developing and monitoring financial forecasts that encompass both incurred and anticipated expenditures.
+ Aid in the preparation of project cost estimates and subcontractor Requests for Proposal (RFP), adhering to approved templates and established company protocols.
+ Compile spreadsheets, create charts, and draft narrative summaries that effectively communicate financial performance for program management reviews, progress reports, and client presentations.
Qualifications
+ U.S. citizenship is required; candidates must be eligible to obtain and maintain a security clearance, with a current clearance preferred.
+ A Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related field, along with a minimum of 2 years of experience in a business setting.
+ Familiarity with extracting financial data reports from Finance, Planning, and Analysis (FP&A) tools (e.g., CostPoint, Cognos, Power BI, etc.).
+ Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel modeling.
+ Ability to interpret financial data and propose proactive measures to address discrepancies from expected projections.
+ Capability to distill large volumes of financial data into charts and graphics to effectively convey key insights.
+ Proficient in articulating budgets to technical project leaders, subcontractors, and clients.
+ Experience in a collaborative team environment; adept at working under tight deadlines and interacting effectively with a diverse range of personnel.
+ Strong interpersonal and verbal/written communication skills.
