Your main focus will be to elevate the visibility and impact of Sourcebooks Fire's publications through effective publicity and marketing strategies. You will be responsible for developing and implementing the publicity plan for the entire Fire catalog, which includes securing significant media coverage for both new releases and popular backlist titles, organizing author tours and events, and participating in major conventions and festivals. Building and nurturing relationships with media contacts will be crucial to your success.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Obtain and manage national and trade media coverage, including reviews, features, and comprehensive media campaigns for Young Adult titles.
  • Establish personal connections with key media outlets (e.g., NPR, NY Times, PW, Teen Vogue).
  • Oversee logistics for author events, including travel arrangements, festival participation, and both virtual and in-person events, while collaborating with the director on convention planning and brand representation.
  • Act as the primary in-house liaison for select marketing titles each year, managing communication with authors and overseeing promotional materials, preorder initiatives, and sales conference presentations.
  • Work collaboratively with internal teams, including sales, editorial, and creative services, to align on campaign objectives and cross-imprint opportunities.
  • Participate in industry events and meetings to foster relationships and enhance brand recognition.
  • Travel to significant Young Adult festivals where Sourcebooks Fire has a presence.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 4 years of experience in book publicity, preferably within the Young Adult or children's literature sectors.
  • In-depth knowledge of the Young Adult category, including active media contacts.
  • Ability to navigate a fast-paced and detail-oriented publishing environment with agility, creativity, and a growth mindset.
  • Exceptional communication skills, with strong promotional writing abilities for both consumer-facing and B2B contexts, including press releases, pitches, and marketing copy.
  • Strong verbal communication skills, capable of effectively pitching and presenting titles to various audiences, both in-person and virtually.
  • Proficiency in tools such as Cision, Muckrack, and Canva or similar design software.
  • Willingness to travel at least three weekends per year for trade shows and festivals.
