Exciting Opportunity for a Safety Engineer
Midland Recruiters is seeking a dedicated Safety Engineer to enhance safety measures within an organization. This role involves developing and enforcing safety protocols, ensuring a secure working environment for all personnel. The ideal candidate will demonstrate exceptional technical expertise, meticulous attention to detail, and a strong commitment to fostering a culture of safety.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, implement, and uphold safety initiatives, policies, and procedures in alignment with local, state, and federal regulations.
- Conduct thorough safety evaluations and audits of production processes, equipment, and facilities to pinpoint hazards and verify adherence to safety standards.
- Examine incident reports to uncover root causes and formulate corrective strategies to avert future incidents.
- Deliver comprehensive safety training to employees across all levels, covering topics such as hazard identification, emergency protocols, and personal protective equipment (PPE) usage.
- Collaborate with diverse teams to address safety issues and devise solutions to mitigate risks.
- Perform risk assessments and engage in the design and execution of engineering controls to reduce workplace hazards.
- Stay updated on industry developments, best practices, and regulatory modifications concerning occupational health and safety.
- Maintain precise records and documentation related to safety inspections, incidents, training, and compliance activities.
- Act as a liaison with regulatory bodies and assist with inspections and inquiries as necessary.
- Participate in safety committee meetings and contribute to ongoing improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing safety performance.
- Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to assess EHS performance and identify opportunities for enhancement.
- Conduct root cause analyses of incidents and near misses to identify underlying factors and implement corrective actions.
- Oversee the submission of claims to workers' compensation carriers.
- Lead incident investigations alongside management and ensure accurate documentation and reporting, including follow-up on corrective actions.
- Promote a culture of safety throughout the organization.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications:
- Extensive knowledge of OSHA regulations, EPA standards, and other pertinent safety guidelines.
- Strong analytical capabilities to identify hazards, evaluate risks, and create effective control measures.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to train and influence personnel at all organizational levels.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to work autonomously and collaboratively in a dynamic environment, with a strong focus on achieving safety goals.
- Demonstrated leadership skills with a proactive, solution-oriented approach to safety management.
- Flexibility to adapt to shifting priorities and manage multiple tasks effectively.
- Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Engineering, or a related field; a Master's degree is preferred.
- Completion of OSHA 30 is required.
- Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or equivalent certification is preferred.
- A minimum of five years of experience in a manufacturing setting, with a concentration on occupational health and safety.
