Midland Recruiters is seeking a dedicated Safety Engineer to join a thriving organization. The successful candidate will demonstrate exceptional technical abilities, meticulous attention to detail, and a strong dedication to enhancing the safety culture within the company.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, execute, and uphold safety initiatives, policies, and protocols in accordance with applicable local, state, and federal regulations.
- Perform routine safety evaluations and audits of production processes, equipment, and facilities to detect hazards and ensure adherence to safety standards.
- Examine incident and accident documentation to uncover root causes and formulate corrective measures to avert future incidents.
- Deliver safety training and educational programs to employees across all organizational levels on topics including hazard identification, emergency response, and personal protective equipment (PPE) usage.
- Collaborate with various teams to address safety issues and devise strategies to reduce risks.
- Conduct risk evaluations and engage in the design and implementation of engineering controls to diminish workplace hazards.
- Stay updated on industry developments, best practices, and regulatory modifications related to occupational health and safety.
- Maintain precise records and documentation concerning safety inspections, incidents, training, and compliance activities, including OSHA logs.
- Act as a liaison with regulatory bodies and assist with inspections and inquiries as necessary.
- Participate in safety committee meetings and contribute to ongoing improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing safety performance.
- Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics to assess EHS performance and identify opportunities for enhancement.
- Conduct root cause analysis of incidents, accidents, and near misses to pinpoint underlying factors and implement corrective and preventive actions.
- Oversee the submission of claims to the workers' compensation carrier.
- Lead incident investigations alongside management and supervisors, ensuring proper documentation and reporting, and follow up to ensure corrective actions are executed as required.
- Promote a culture of safety throughout the organization.
- Other responsibilities as assigned by management.
Qualifications:
- Comprehensive understanding of OSHA regulations, EPA standards (including Title V and Hazardous Waste), and other pertinent safety guidelines.
- Strong analytical capabilities with the proficiency to identify hazards, evaluate risks, and develop effective control strategies.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively train and influence employees at all levels.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Able to work independently and collaboratively in a dynamic environment, with a strong commitment to achieving safety goals.
- Demonstrated leadership skills with a proactive and solution-focused approach to safety management.
- Adaptability to changing priorities and the ability to manage multiple tasks concurrently.
- Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Engineering, or a related field; a Master's degree is preferred.
- Completion of OSHA 30 is required.
- Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or equivalent certification is preferred.
- A minimum of five years of experience in a manufacturing setting, with a focus on occupational health and safety.
