Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, execute, and uphold safety initiatives, policies, and procedures that align with local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Perform routine safety evaluations and audits of production processes, machinery, and facilities to pinpoint hazards and ensure adherence to safety standards.
  • Examine incident and accident reports to determine root causes and formulate corrective actions to avert future incidents.
  • Deliver safety training and educational programs to employees across all levels, covering topics such as hazard identification, emergency protocols, and the use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Collaborate with various teams to address safety issues and devise strategies to mitigate risks.
  • Conduct risk assessments and engage in the design and implementation of engineering controls to reduce workplace hazards.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, best practices, and regulatory changes pertaining to occupational health and safety.
  • Maintain thorough records and documentation related to safety inspections, incidents, training, and compliance activities, including OSHA logs.
  • Act as a liaison with regulatory bodies and assist with inspections and inquiries as necessary.
  • Participate in safety committee meetings and contribute to ongoing improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing safety performance.
  • Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics to evaluate EHS performance and identify areas for enhancement.
  • Conduct root cause analyses of incidents, accidents, and near misses to uncover underlying causes and implement corrective and preventive measures.
  • Oversee the submission of claims to the workers' compensation carrier.
  • Lead incident investigations alongside management and supervisors, ensuring proper documentation and reporting, and follow up to ensure corrective actions are executed as needed.
  • Champion the safety culture within the organization.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications:

  • Comprehensive knowledge of OSHA regulations, EPA standards (particularly Title V and Hazardous Waste), and other pertinent safety guidelines.
  • Strong analytical abilities to identify hazards, assess risks, and develop effective control strategies.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, capable of effectively training and influencing employees at all organizational levels.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a dynamic environment, with a strong focus on achieving safety goals.
  • Demonstrated leadership qualities with a proactive and solution-oriented approach to safety management.
  • Flexibility to adapt to shifting priorities and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Engineering, or a related field; a Master's degree is preferred.
  • Completion of OSHA 30 certification is required.
  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or equivalent certification is preferred.
  • A minimum of five years of experience in a manufacturing setting, emphasizing occupational health and safety.
