Chief of Government Affairs

Planned Parenthood Northern California (PPNorCal) is in search of a Chief of Government Affairs to oversee our advocacy initiatives. Key ResponsibilitiesThe Chief of Government Affairs will collaborate closely with the Vice President of Government Relations and Communications to lead all advocacy and grassroots initiatives. The individual will also support the Planned Parenthood Northern California Action Fund in electing champions of reproductive rights and fostering volunteer engagement in key campaigns.
- Act as a liaison for elected officials at local, state, and federal levels, addressing legislative concerns.
- Assist the VP of Government Relations in formulating and executing public policy strategies.
- Develop political strategies for the Action Fund, including candidate endorsements and electoral activities.
- Engage with community partners to enhance support for PPNorCal's objectives, particularly within the reproductive rights movement.
- Supervise Government Relations staff and coordinate grassroots communications regarding legislative matters.
- Collaborate with Planned Parenthood Affiliates on political strategies.
- Support media relations, particularly on advocacy issues.
- Contribute to fundraising efforts and special events.
- Ensure departmental budget and performance goals are met.
- Commit to advancing PPNorCal's Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion initiatives.
Oversee the Senior Government Relations Officer, Senior External Affairs Officer, and Volunteer Coordinator, ensuring effective direction and evaluation of their work.

A graduate degree or a minimum of ten years of relevant experience, including five years in a managerial role, is required. Experience in public policy, legislative, or political fields is essential.

- Ability to communicate effectively with various stakeholders.
- Strong organizational and decision-making skills.
- Knowledge of social media and basic computer applications.
The salary range for this position is $125,000 - $140,000 annually, reflecting the experience and qualifications of the candidate.
