Job Summary

Under the direction of the Mechanical Maintenance Supervisor, this position requires a skilled individual in all facets of Industrial Maintenance Mechanical Operations. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing maintenance and repair duties, including measurements, layouts, fabrication, installations, and repairs, while exemplifying Pixelle's core values of Safety and Excellence.

Key Responsibilities
  • Adhere to Safety Standards: Attend all training, safety committee meetings, and verify that all safety concerns are addressed.
  • Uphold Safety Standards: Consistently follow safe practices, wear protective equipment as required when performing overhead work, and work with hazardous chemical lines in accordance with mill safety, housekeeping, environmental, and regulatory standards.
  • Attend Level 1 Training: Meet the required benchmarks.
  • Perform Preventative Maintenance: Ensure all instructions are followed and each step is fully executed.
  • Work Independently: Perform routine assignments following drawings, sketches, oral or written instructions, established procedures, and accepted practices.
  • Plan Work Details: Follow established procedure, safety standards, and mill guidelines.
  • Provide Documentation: Provide all required documentation, time confirmations, and feedback when the job has been completed.
  • Assist Other Technicians: Assist level 1-3 Maintenance technicians on new installations or repairs, assist with on-the-job training of apprentices in correct procedure and methods, and assist other crafts as needed on job encompassing related equipment.
  • Serve on the Industrial Fire Team: Mitigate risk and escalation of fires within the facility and provide assistance required by your craft, as laid out in the GIFT handbook.
  • Refer Unusual Problems: Refer unusual problems or concerns to Level 1, Level 2, and Level 3 Mechanics or to craft lead/supervisor when acceptable repairs cannot be completed.
  • Crew Assignments: Crew assignments and duties may vary at times based upon job & skill requirement, as well as available crew personnel to complete the work safely and efficiently.
Qualifications
  • Education and Experience: Associate's Degree (A.A.) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school in the related field along with 1 year related experience and training; or equivalent combination of education and experience equal to 4 years.
  • Communication and Analytical Skills: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.
  • Mathematical and Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Problem-Solving and Critical Thinking: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
