Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Multicraft Maintenance Mechanic Journeyman Level One to join our team at Pixelle Specialty Solutions. As a key member of our maintenance team, you will be responsible for performing a wide range of maintenance and repair duties, including hydraulic systems, pumps, bearing replacements, alignment procedures, rigging, and pipefitting.

Key Responsibilities
  • Adhere to Safety Standards: Promote a safe working environment by attending all training, safety committee meetings, and verifying that all safety concerns are addressed.
  • Uphold Safety Standards: Consistently follow safe practices, wear protective equipment as required when performing overhead work, and work with hazardous chemical lines in accordance with mill safety, housekeeping, environmental, and regulatory standards.
  • Attend Level 1 Training: Meet the required benchmarks and demonstrate a strong understanding of our safety protocols.
  • Perform Preventative Maintenance: Ensure all instructions are followed and each step is fully executed to maintain our equipment and facilities.
  • Work Independently: Plan and execute routine assignments following established procedures, safety standards, and mill guidelines.
  • Provide Documentation: Ensure all required documentation, time confirmations, and feedback are provided when the job is completed.
  • Assist Other Technicians: Assist level 1-3 maintenance technicians on new installations or repairs, assist with on-the-job training of apprentices, and assist other crafts as needed.
  • Participate in the Industrial Fire Team: Mitigate risk and escalation of fires within the facility and provide assistance required by your craft, as outlined in the GIFT handbook.
  • Refer Unusual Problems: Refer unusual problems or concerns to level 1, level 2, and level 3 mechanics or to craft lead/supervisor when acceptable repairs cannot be completed.
Qualifications
  • Education: Associate's Degree (A.A.) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school in the related field, along with 1 year related experience and training, or equivalent combination of education and experience equal to 4 years.
  • Skills: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.
  • Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
