Job Title: Payroll Coordinator/Specialist

Job Summary:

Unity Health Care is seeking a highly skilled Payroll Coordinator/Specialist to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for carrying out a wide variety of assignments related to payroll processing, including monitoring and maintaining activity in the Time and Attendance System, reviewing and processing bi-weekly payroll, calculating wages and benefits, and preparing and processing paychecks and cash deposits.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Monitor and maintain activity in the Time and Attendance System, ensuring supervisors approve bi-weekly timesheets and reviewing timesheet entries for time adjustments.
  • Assist with reviewing and processing bi-weekly payroll, including terminations, retirements, reclassifications, promotions, and demotions, for approval and final determination.
  • Calculate wages, benefits, retroactive pay, corrections, and other payroll-related calculations.
  • Prepare and process paychecks and cash deposits, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
  • Maintain accurate records of payroll documentation and transactions, ensuring compliance with company and regulatory standards.
  • Respond to payroll-related inquiries and resolve concerns in a timely and professional manner.
  • Perform account balance and payroll reconciliations, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
  • Prepare financial reports for accounting and auditing purposes, providing insights into payroll operations.
  • Work in a team environment, coordinating with other team members to ensure seamless payroll processing.
  • Perform related administrative tasks, including creating and updating forms, conducting cross-training in other fiscal functions, and providing information and assistance regarding accounting and payroll-related issues.

Requirements:

  • Associate's degree with major coursework in Accounting/Business or related courses, or an equivalent combination of education, training, or experience.
  • A minimum of 2 years' experience working in payroll or a similar role, with a strong understanding of basic accounting principles and payroll practices.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with staff at all levels and external organizations.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
  • High numerical aptitude, with the ability to accurately calculate and process payroll-related data.
  • Detail-oriented, with the ability to maintain accurate records and ensure compliance with company and regulatory standards.

The successful candidate will be able to work independently with minimal supervision, making sound business decisions and managing difficult situations effectively.
