Role Overview

The Portfolio Manager plays a pivotal role in our firm’s financial ecosystem, responsible for the diligent oversight of client portfolios. This position requires seamless collaboration with the Investment Management Team, active involvement in committees, and a continuous awareness of market trends to guide strategic choices. The Portfolio Manager works closely with senior portfolio managers and Chief Investment Officers (CIOs), contributing to the development and documentation of investment strategies and methodologies. As the Portfolio Manager gains experience, they will be expected to take on greater responsibilities in client interactions and thought leadership within the financial sector.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily management of client portfolios, ensuring alignment with clients' investment objectives and risk tolerances.
  • Support Senior Portfolio Managers with research, focusing on enhancing credit analysis capabilities across various sectors and providing insights for the Credit Committee.
  • Actively participate in Portfolio Management committees, contributing to discussions and decisions that shape the firm’s investment strategies.
  • Stay informed on financial market trends and developments to make well-informed decisions that reflect the current economic landscape.
  • Encourage open dialogue within the Investment Management Team to foster idea exchange and collaborative problem-solving.
  • Develop comprehensive documentation for investment strategies and operational procedures to ensure a consistent approach to portfolio management.
  • Collaborate with the Marketing team to analyze new business Requests for Proposals (RFPs), ensuring portfolio management perspectives are effectively represented.
  • Produce detailed "white papers" on pertinent investment topics and deliver presentations under the guidance of the Chief Investment Officers (CIOs).
  • Represent the firm at industry conferences, acting as a knowledgeable and professional point of contact for current trends and firm capabilities.

Qualifications

  • Educational Background: A Bachelor’s degree in finance, business, economics, or a related discipline, along with a CFA designation is required.
  • Professional Experience: At least five years of experience in the asset management industry, specifically focusing on fixed income portfolios.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in Excel, database management, and Bloomberg.
  • Knowledge Base: A strong understanding of financial markets, asset management practices, and processes.
  • Market Acumen: Proven experience in managing fixed income portfolios and the ability to engage effectively with clients.
  • Communication Skills: The capacity to collaborate effectively in team environments and work across departments is essential.
  • Additional Qualifications:
  • Experience in risk management and strategic planning within the asset management field.
  • Demonstrated adaptability to changing market conditions and regulatory landscapes.
  • Leadership experience, with the ability to mentor junior staff and lead by example.
  • Strong analytical skills to assess investment opportunities and market risks.
