Role Overview

The Portfolio Manager plays a pivotal role in the financial operations of our firm, responsible for the careful oversight of client portfolios. This position requires seamless collaboration with the Investment Management Team, active involvement in committees, and a continuous awareness of market trends to guide strategic decisions. The Portfolio Manager works closely with senior portfolio managers and Chief Investment Officers (CIOs) to develop and document investment strategies and processes. As the individual gains experience, they will be expected to enhance their role in client interactions and industry thought leadership.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily management of client portfolios, ensuring alignment with clients' investment objectives and risk tolerance.
  • Support Senior Portfolio Managers with research, focusing on enhancing credit analysis capabilities across various sectors and providing insights for the Credit Committee.
  • Actively participate in Portfolio Management committees, contributing to discussions and decisions that shape the firm's investment strategies.
  • Stay informed on financial market trends and developments to make well-informed decisions that reflect the current economic landscape.
  • Encourage open dialogue within the Investment Management Team to foster idea exchange and collaborative problem-solving.
  • Develop comprehensive documentation for investment strategies and operational procedures to ensure a consistent approach to portfolio management.
  • Work with the Marketing department to evaluate new business Requests for Proposals (RFPs), ensuring portfolio management perspectives are adequately represented.
  • Create detailed "white papers" on pertinent investment topics and deliver presentations under the guidance of the Chief Investment Officers (CIOs).
  • Represent the firm at industry conferences, acting as a knowledgeable and professional point of contact for current trends and firm capabilities.

Qualifications

  • Educational Background: A Bachelor's degree in finance, business, economics, or a related field, along with a CFA designation is required.
  • Professional Experience: At least five years of experience in the asset management sector, particularly with fixed income portfolios.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in Excel, database management, and Bloomberg.
  • Knowledge Base: A comprehensive understanding of financial markets, asset management practices, and processes.
  • Market Acumen: Proven experience in managing fixed income portfolios and effective client engagement.
  • Communication Skills: Ability to collaborate effectively in team environments and across departments.

  • Proven adaptability to changing market conditions and regulatory frameworks.
  • Leadership experience, with the ability to mentor junior staff and set a positive example.
  • Strong analytical capabilities to assess investment opportunities and market risks.
