Job OverviewPosition Summary: The Electrical and Control Systems Engineer plays a crucial role in the design and implementation of control systems, data acquisition systems, specialized testing equipment, and simulation tools. This position involves the development, testing, and optimization of equipment and machinery. The engineer will be tasked with recommending, specifying, modeling, designing, and testing systems that leverage sensor data and external inputs for effective control and data acquisition. Additionally, this role includes supporting the installation, commissioning, and troubleshooting of systems at client sites. The engineer will apply engineering principles to create systems and products that meet the company's needs.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design control and data acquisition systems by integrating commercially available components to achieve critical functionality.
  • Assist clients with installation, commissioning, and troubleshooting processes.
  • Lead the design of project control system software, including Matlab/Simulink simulation and modeling, software development, and wiring schematics. Generate control code using Simulink Coder.
  • Oversee the design of data acquisition systems that provide inputs to the control system and record all relevant system data.
  • Interface with third-party systems to capture data and acquire signals essential for the control system.
  • Engage in testing, modeling, simulation, and analysis of electromechanical control systems and their components.
  • Analyze system data to evaluate the effectiveness of control systems.
  • Define and develop primary control software and interfacing hardware components, including system-level design and layout based on component-level requirements.
  • Design electronic systems, interfaces, and communication protocols with Modbus industrial systems and J1939 engine control systems.
  • Review, develop, and provide feedback on technical documentation, including requirements, CAD files, test plans/reports, and engineering change documents.
  • Offer technical support to vendors as needed and participate in vendor selection and meetings.
  • Establish testing requirements and engage in testing to ensure compliance with standards.
  • Develop independent analytical models and analysis tools.
  • Collaborate with other technical disciplines, working effectively as part of a team.
  • Assist in creating technical proposals and cost estimates to support new business initiatives.
Qualifications:
  • Master's degree in electrical engineering or a related field.
  • 0-7 years of experience in control and automation system design and simulation.
  • Strong proficiency in model development, simulation, and analysis using Matlab/Simulink.
  • Proficient in MS Office applications.
  • Experience with Modbus and SAE J1939 or other CAN bus systems is preferred.
  • Solid understanding of the verification and validation process, including test plan development, system evaluation, data collection, and analysis.
  • Experience in testing methodologies to enhance reliability, including HALT and HASS testing.
  • Ability to work effectively with team members in a dynamic and enjoyable work environment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Authorization to work in the United States.
