Position Overview
The Electrical Engineer Level 1 is responsible for researching, developing, designing, and testing electrical components, equipment, and systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop control systems, instruments, and electrical systems for marine, defense, oil & gas, and industrial applications.
  • Create and evaluate electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and layout designs.
  • Integrate electrical systems with hydraulic controls and other systems, collaborating with mechanical engineers for seamless integration.
  • Oversee activities to ensure that manufacturing, construction, installation, and operational testing meet functional specifications and client requirements.
  • Manage and coordinate the operation, maintenance, and repair of equipment and systems in field installations.
  • Engage in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance system performance, reliability, and efficiency, while staying abreast of advancements in electrical engineering.
  • Utilize computer-aided engineering and design software to execute engineering tasks.
  • Provide ongoing engineering support to operations, technical support, application development, and sales for design-related issues with existing products.
  • Additional responsibilities include schematic capture, electrical component selection, layout supervision, coordinating product regulatory certification, and product release documentation.
  • Mentor junior engineers.
  • Participate in the organization's continuous improvement program to comply with ISO 9001 standards.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education:
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited institution or a closely related field.

Experience:
Minimum of four years of experience in electrical engineering, preferably in a related area. Familiarity with marine electrical systems, standards, and regulations is advantageous. Experience in an ISO 9001 environment is a plus.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Excellent oral and written communication abilities.
  • Strong electrical design and troubleshooting skills.
  • Proficient understanding of I/O (PCI) Bus structures and their dependencies.
  • Proficiency in MS Excel and Word for data analysis and reporting.
  • Interest in analog circuit design and analysis, with a preference for hands-on electronic circuit work.
  • Knowledge of fundamental switching regulator and converter topologies, including flybacks, buck, and boost.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and navigate situations with limited standardization.
  • Capability to interpret various instructions in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Ability to communicate ideas effectively and inspire others.
  • Strong organizational skills to assign work based on employee skills and experience.
  • Maintain positive interactions with staff and management.
  • Ability to work under tight schedules.
